To begin, for this blog post, I have found three magazine's double page spread. Using each of these magazines, I found the headlines, description of each image, pull quotes, and more. Additionally, I have added the house style of the magazine as well as the content of the articles. Lastly, I included other photos in my genre that I liked. A limitation that I experienced was that the only magazine I could find was Vogue. Although this is the case, I made sure to find three different issues of magazines from different times about a diverse range of topics. This process aided me in understanding what I want to include in my double page spread.
First Magazine: The cover
The name of the double page spread was not listed on the cover page but was listed in the table of contents. The table of contents was where I got my inspiration for the double page spread I would be examining.

(Vouge: November 2020)
First Magazine: Table of Contents
On this page, I saw the article named Time Regained numbered 48 as seen below. I took an interest in how this article was going to focus on the "timeline of fashion." Due to this, I found the double page spread of this text and began analyzing it.

First Magazine: Double page spread

Number of images: 2
Number of total pages for article: 1
Description of each image: The image shown on the first page is located in between the text. It is a picture of a black dress that looks outdated from at least a hundred years ago. This makes since since the article focus on the history of fashion trends. The sleeves of this dress are long, and there are many buttons along the torso area of this dress. The background is ombre, consisting of the colors yellow and black fading into each other. The second image is placed on the second page. It is the same article of clothing just enlarged to fit the whole page. The background, however, has no yellow and is just dark grey/black.
Headline: The name of the headline is Time Regained and it is placed on the center-top of the page. It is bolded and in a Serif font as well as the biggest text on the page.
Section Title: The title of the whole article is Time Regained and at the bottom of the first page there is another title called Back To Black.
Pull Quotes: There are no pull quotes
Article Font Format: The title of the spread as well as the article is in a black Serif Font. The title of this magazine as well as the title Back To Black is bolded while the article is not. Back To Black is in a Sans-Serif font.
Stylistic Features: There is an image breaking up the text on the first page of the spread. Also, the first letter of the article is bolded and bigger than the rest of the words on the page.
Number of Columns Per Page: There are two columns on the first page. There is only a picture on the second page, so there are no coups on the right hand side.
House Style: There is consistency among the cover page, table of contents, and double page spread as the black is used as the font color. Moreover, in the table of contents(title) and cover page(cover-lines and main cover-line), all the wording was in a Sans-Serif font except for the word Vogue displayed at the top of the page. The word Vogue was in a Serif font. The double spread page differs as all the words on the page are in Serif. There is consistency among the cover and double page spread when looking at the colors used. For example, the main colors are black, grey, and white. However the table of contents page includes lighter colors such as blue, green, and pink.
Content: Andrew bolton wanted to create an exhibition that shows fashion and it’s “temporality.” He was going to have timelines, one with the chronological order of fashion and certain trends and the other shows ones that don’t necessarily match. This shows the relationships between the past and present. He revisited some of the pieces and paired it with current clothes that created juxtaposition and drama. He also chose to feature designers who are not as mainstream as well as include designs made by minorities.
Second Magazine: The cover
The name of the double page spread I analyzed was not listed directly on the cover, I found it while looking at the table of contents.

(Vogue Winter 2023)
Second Magazine: Table of contents
On this page, I noticed there was an article about England, which is a country I want to visit in the future. The article about England also mentioned Burberry, which is a brand I admire. For these reasons, I decided to look more into this double page spread. The article is number 74 and can be seen below:

Second Magazine: Double page spread

Number of images: There is one image on the Double page spread
Number of total pages for article: There are three pages in this article
Description of each image: There is one image displayed on the right hand side of the spread. This photo showcases a man a long black coat, black pants, and white sneakers. The man in the photo is staring directly at the camera with his hands in the pockets of his coat. He is standing on a sidewalk where the road is visible in the photo. Behind the man, there are brown buildings.
Headline: The headline is England Made Me placed in the top right section of the page. It is bolded in a serif font, as well as the biggest text on the page.
Section Title: England Made Me is the name of the whole article. On the bottom of the right page, however, there is title called Check's New Mate.
Pull Quotes: There are no Pull Quotes displayed
Article Font Format: The name of the article is in Serif and bolded as well as the title Check's New Mate. The whole article is in a Serif font as well. The color of the words are black.
Stylistic Features: The first letter of the article is bolded and larger than the rest of the text on the page. Also, the name of the article, England Made Me, is formatted in a unique way. This is because the word Made is shifted a little to the right underneath the word England, and the word Me is shifted even more to the right under the word Made.
Number of Columns Per Page: There are two columns per page and one on the third page.
House Style: The cover and the table of contents utilize a similar color palette in the photos shown on those pages. This consists of red, green, and black. The double page spread also includes a little green but otherwise does not align with the colors seen on the other pages. The colors on this page are mainly black, brown, and white. There are also a couple words in the table of contents in the color red as well. In the cover(The masthead), table of contents(the title), and double page spread, the word/words on the top-center of page are in serif bold. For instance, the word Vogue is displayed in serif bold in the cover and table of contents. In the double page spread, the words England Made Me are also in serif bold. Another consistency shown is how the text on the cover(the main cover-line and cover-lines)and table of contents(excluding the word Vogue) is in a Sans-serif font. However all of the words on the double page spread is in a Serif font.
Content: Daniel Lee is the chief creative director of Burberry as of last September. Prior to this, he had to travel to many areas of the world while working for Bottega Veneta. Since Burberry is a British brand, he’s able to live full time in his own home which has greatly helped to inspire him and his collection. While with Bottega, he created and popularized the famous woven cassette bag and made their signature green color popular. Burberry is a very well known company, especially in England, so he’s honored to be working with the company.
He values the feeling that certain clothes evoke as well as they're functionality.
Third Magazine: The cover
The name of the double page spread I analyzed was not listed directly on the cover, I found it while looking at the table of contents.

Third Magazine: Table of contents
I chose the article V Life because the name stood out to me as different. It also mentioned how an artist was going to be talked about in this article and I think art can be really fun and creative. The article number is 30 and can be seen below:

Third magazine: Double page spread

Number of images: There are five images
Number of total pages for article: There are two pages for the article
Description of each image: The first image is on the left hand side and takes up most of the page. The image is of a model staring into the camera wearing a sparkly white, gold, and silver dress. She appears to be in an elevator leaning against a table with her right hand which is pilled with dirty cups, plates, and more. Lastly, her left hand is raised all the way up in the air. The last few pictures are on the right side of the spread. They are arranged together like a collage as the photos are on top of one another. One image is of a blue button-down shirt, the other is of a women in a yellow coat, black pants, black boots, black sunglasses and taking on the phone. She also appears to be in the motion of walking. The next image is of a grey bag and lastly there is an image of a gold necklace.
Headline: V Life
Section Title: Yours to Keep is the overall title of the spread. It is broken down even further into Julie Delibran, A.P.C.X Suzanne Koller Interaction #2. Lastly, on the the second page, there is another section title called All Good Things.
Pull Quotes: There are no pull quotes.
Article Font Format: The headline is bolded in Serif. The V is in red while the rest of the word is in white. The title Yours To Keep and All Good Things is bolded in black and in a Sans-Serif font. The rest of the article is in Serif.
Stylistic Features: On the first page, there is a long white rectangular box in which the article of the double page spread begins. It rests upon the photo of the model. On the next page, the collage provided breaks up the text and adds pops of color. The V in V Life also stands out boldly since it is in red.
Number of Columns Per Page: On the first page, there is only one column. On the second page there are two, however.
House Style: The cover(The masthead), table of contents(title), and the double page spread(The headline), are similar. This is because the cover's masthead is bolded, Serif font, and white. The table of contents title is bolded, Serif font, and Red. The double page spread's headline is bolded, Serif font, and in both white and red. In the cover and table of contents, the color palettes are similar. The colors include green and brown. The double page spread however includes blue and yellow. The cover-lines on the cover as well as the table of contents are in Sans Serif while the double page spread seems to be written in a Serif-Font.
Content: Julie de Libran used to work as an artistic director but is now creating her own label. She’s focusing on using green and sustainable materials. Her clothes are limited and she’s gaining in popularity with people already asking her to make exclusive wedding gowns. Her clothes have “the element of surprise” and feature dramatic bows and patterns.
Many people struggle with finding good basics such as a sweater, coat, or button down shirt. Suzanne Koller is collaborating with french label, A.P.C. to produce classics that don’t just last for a single season, but are timeless.
