In this post, I will be sharing a survey to determine my target audience for my fashion magazine. I will also include the data I have received from the questionnaire and analyze the data. By analyzing this, I will be able to get a better understanding of who will be reading my magazine and what they want to see most in it.

After creating the survey, I then sent it out to people using both text messages and WhatsApp. I contacted many different people both male and female. Due to this, I received accurate and representative results.

Below are some examples of me sending out my form:

Demographics: This question helped me identify the demographics of my magazine by finding the age of the people completing this survey. The results showed that there is mainly a young audience as 95% of the people completing my survey is in the 14-18 age range. Due to this data, my magazine will represent to younger generation .

Demographics: I used this question to find out which gender I should gear my magazine towards. It can be shown that 76% of females answered this surveyed. This demographic means that I need to focus my magazine on women rather than include men.

Psychographics: This question allowed me to understand what kinds of magazines most people that I asked this survey to like and enjoy. 71% of people chose the fashion option, which was reassuring for me since that is the category I wanted to focus on. These psychographics will allow me to continue forward with this type of magazine genre.

Psychographics: I used this question to figure out how most people read a magazine of those I asked. Since 57% of people chose the paper version, I will be utilizing the information from this data to create a paper version of my magazine. This will ensure a large amount of people will be reading my magazine.

ree

Psychographics: This question helped me to find out the kind of content people enjoy in the magazine genre that they chose. Since the majority of people chose fashion category, this data tells me that most people answering this survey prefer editorials in a fashion magazine. This helped me out a lot as I will most likely be creating an editorial.

Psychographics: I used this question to find out the kind of colors those filling out my magazine prefer. 57% of people said they prefer Bright/Happy colors. This convinced me to make my magazine full of bright colors. This could also be helpful as spring/summer is coming up and I could write an article on the colors trending this year during those seasons. (I talk about the articles I will write later on)

Psychographics: This question was used to better understand the kinds of colors I should use in my magazine. 66.7% of people picked optional one, which consisted of bright pinks, oranges, and yellows. These colors are the ones I wanted to use, and I am happy that the majority of people answering this survey shared the same opinions. I will be using the pinks, oranges, etc in my magazine.

ree

Psychographics: This question was utilized to figure out the angle/shot the cover photo should be taken. There was a large majority of people choosing the mid-shot option. Due to this, the cover photo of my magazine will be taken using a mid-shot.

ree

Psychographics: I used this question to find out if the people who completed my survey liked to stay up to date with new trends. 71% of people responded that they do in fact like to stay up to date with new trends. This is important to know as I could talk about/incorporate new trends coming up.

ree

Psychographics: This question was used to figure out if the type of font used impacted whether you read a magazine or not. 61.9% of people answered yes. I will use this data moving forward to make sure the fonts that I choose are pleasing well thought out.

ree

Psychographics: This question was used to find out more specifically the type of font those answering my survey preferred. 61.9% of people answered that they prefer Serif. Due to this, I will be using a Serif font in my magazine. I can include it in my masthead, main cover-line, and more.

ree

Psychographics: I used this question to figure out if having fashion style was important among the people who answered my survey. 76% of people responded by saying yes. This question was important to ask because in my magazine I would like to include stylish items.

ree

Psychographics: I used this question to find out if the people filling out my survey liked the vibe of the magazine I showed. The magazine I showed had a springy and flowery feeling. Since 81% of people liked the magazine I presented, it let me know that that my magazine should have the same feeling. For instance, I might include flowers. This also relates to how more people liked bright/happy colors in a question earlier. This is due to how the color palette in the other question and the vibe of the magazine I showed in this question are similar.

ree

Psychographics: This is a followup question to the previous one. If you answered no the last question, that means that you prefer the second option. The second option was a magazine with darker tones and no bright colors. Since there was a small percentage of people that chose this magazine in comparison to the first one, that means I will not include darker shades. The second magazine also was very monotone and plain, which is what I''m going to not do. Instead I will be using a lot of different bright/happy colors instead of just one or two.

ree

Psychographics: I used this question to find out how many cover-lines I should display on the cover of my magazine. 57% of people said I should display 3-4 cover lines. After looking at the results of this data, I will implementing this and putting 3-4 cover-lines on my cover.

ree

Psychographics: This question was used to figure out if individualism is important to the people completing this survey. 71% of people answered yes. Understanding that more people prefer to have individualism in fashion might inspire me to write about how the different colors(the bright pinks, yellows, and oranges that the majority in the survey chose) I will be using supports individualism. I can also focus on created different styles of outfits that different kinds of people like and are geared to them.

ree

Psychographics: I asked this question to figure out what article I should write in my magazine. Most people said I should write about the Spring/Summer 2023 color trends. This made me very happy because I really wanted to write about this one. Due to the results, I will be writing about this topic. I can utilize the bright/happy color palette along with the springy/flowery magazine cover inspiration to go along with this article as bright colors are going to be trending in spring/summer.

Conclusion: Overall, my survey largely supports my initial ideas about my target audience profile. This is because the colors, cover design, font type, and article that was chosen by those completing my survey was what I hoped to do in the first place. Furthermore, there aren't any demographics or psychographics that need to be changed or surprising answers. I am very excited to start working on my final magazine and incorporating the knowledge I have gained from this target audience questionnaire.
