After creating multiple drafts of my magazine cover, table of contents, and double page spread, I asked my friends for feedback. I received pointers that I will use to improve my magazine as well as what I have done well. I will share my critique experience/reflection and well as how I will incorporate the feedback I received to improve my magazine.

What the vast majority of my friends outlined as the better draft out of two options for each category of the magazine:

Cover-

Table of Contents-

Double Page Spread-

Why my friends chose these images/positive feedback: For starters, my friends liked these photos because they had more color and vibrance than the other drafts. In my cover, they liked how bright the lighting was and preferred a less busy cover like the other one I created. In my table of contents, they liked not only the use of more colors but the editors note I included. They mentioned how it helped to fill up the space so it isn't as emtpy and plain. They agreed how placing the table of contents directly above the TOC was a better idea that putting it next to the word Charmé. Moving on to my double page spread, I was told that having the spacing in between paragraphs was helpful to read to article instead of getting lost, confused, or bored. My friends also commentated how they admired the letter that was bigger and bolder than the rest of the text. In the second page of my double page spread, I was told that having the pull quote was a fun addition to the article to break up the same size, color, and boldness of the text that had been used throughout the whole article. Likewise, they thought it was cool how I accentuated the word pop and how it added some color to the page.

Suggestions for improvement: In the cover I was informed I should bring up the masthead, Charmé Magazine. In my table of contents my friends said that the words editors note was a bit small and at first didn't really pay attention to it. They said to make the words bigger and make it into a title on its separate line instead of on the same line of the actual editors note. They also said to remove the semicolon. Furthermore, in the first page of the double page spread, I was told that I should bring down the title a little bit as it was too high. Lastly on the second page of my double page spread, the feedback I received was to move the pull quote from the bottom of the page to the middle.

Overall, my critique experience was very positive as I was able to collaborate with my friends. Being able to work with people I can trust and feel comfortable with made it easy to ask them what they genuinely thought about my magazine. They were also able to easily communicate back with me truthfully as we respect each other. Their feedback helped me to improve my magazine and their positive words lead me to picking out the best drafts and why they were better. After reflecting upon how I can fix my magazine, I know for a fact I will incorporate there words of feedback into my final design. I can also continuously ask their opinion on what they believe I should do as I can rely on them for insightful answers to make my magazine the best it can be.
